Recent News

  • (19 Sep 2009) Lyriki has not only been updated to the latest version of MediaWiki (1.15.1), but also to a new server! It's still running off of the old one until DNS has updated, but once that happens the site should be much faster. Until then, http://test.lyriki.com should be the faster version, all content the same.
  • (18 Jun 2008) Wiki-Lyrics script submitting policy has been updated. Everyone using the script to submit content to the site should read it.
  • (30 Apr 2008) Database dumps in xml format have been put up, for those who wish to mirror or keep backups of lyriki. The newest file is always available at http://lyriki.com/dbdumps/dump-newest.bz2 (warning, ~20 mb)
  • (25 Dec 2007) Many templates are receiving major, much-needed revisions... please excuse the broken pages.
  • (30 Oct 2007) Due to the constant anonymous vandalism, anonymous editing has been disabled indefinitely.
  • Not new, but, definitely in need of exposure. #Lyriki on irc.freenode.net could definitely use some more company.

What can I do at Lyriki?

New here?

Feel like helping out?

How should I do those things?

Before contributing, you must create an account. Next, please look at the help section, specifically the pages on adding new songs, albums and artists. These pages contain templates that should be used when entering lyrics or other information. This gives pages a consistant look and feel, and ensures that all the information shows up properly in the indexes.

Contributing lyrics should be done by listening to the song and transcribing the words as best you can. Don't worry about making mistakes; someone else will offer corrections, and eventually the community should be able to come to a consensus as to what the proper lyrics are.

To contribute artist or album information, you should either transcribe the information from your own CDs or gather the information from various websites, such as Wikipedia, All Music Guide, MusicBrainz or even Amazon.com.
