Usage
Generally you would include this template in the page where you want the links inserted, however, the album template already calls this template so for adding external links to album pages just use the parameters listed here, but in that template. When used directly (not when used through the album template), both the artist and the album name can be specified as named parameters (artist and album respectively) or as the first 2 unnamed parameters (first the artist, then the album).
Other optional parameters can be specified:
- wikipedia: Name of the Wikipedia album article, defaults to the article named album.
- allmusic: ID of the All Music album page, defaults to an album search.
- lastfm: artist/album part of the Last.fm URL for the album, defaults to {{urlencode:artist}}/{{urlencode:album}}.
- musicbrainz: html name for the album page at MusicBrainz, defaults to an album search.
Examples
Assumming the album Kid A by Radiohead, the template can be inserted in the following ways:
- Verbose, specify all parameters:
{{album external links|artist=Radiohead|album=Kid A | wikipedia = Kid A | allmusic = 10:5tkbu3x0an8k | lastfm = Radiohead/Kid+A | musicbrainz = e1bdf797-8b89-4d4c-8986-bcb0974d9726 }}
- Less verbose, specify only needed parameters:
{{album external links|artist=Radiohead|album=Kid A | allmusic = 10:5tkbu3x0an8k | musicbrainz = e1bdf797-8b89-4d4c-8986-bcb0974d9726 }}
- Even less verbose, use unnamed params:
{{album external links|Radiohead|Kid A| | allmusic = 10:5tkbu3x0an8k | musicbrainz = e1bdf797-8b89-4d4c-8986-bcb0974d9726 }}
Note: when using unnamed params, put a pipe before the album or the "\n" will be taken as part of the album.
